On January 27 Viktor Medvedchuk, the leader of the Social Democratic Party of Ukraine (United) that is a member of the Oppositional Bloc “NE TAK!”, and his deputy Mykhailo Papiiev are staying on a working visit to Dnipropetrovsk oblast.
During his meeting with the voters Viktor Medvedchuk commented on the recent conferment of the title “a Hero of Ukraine” on chairman of the editorial board of the Silski Visti newspaper Ivan Spodarenko, “As a person, as a citizen I am ashamed of Yushchenko who conferred the title to the person who is known for his xenophobic ideas just a few days before the International Day of Commemoration in memory of the victims of the Holocaust.”
“Today the whole world is mourning over the Holocaust victims. And our “moral” authorities confer the country’s highest title on the person who is widely known for his chauvinism and anti-Semitism, the leader of the scandalous newspaper known for its libels,” said the SDPU(U) leader.
“Volodymyr Komanov, an outstanding designer who earned fame for Ukraine with his achievements in the space industry, is standing next to me at today’s meeting. When he was awarded with the title “a Hero of Ukraine”, I felt proud for the country, for Ukraine and for the President. And now I am ashamed of Ukraine’s President,” said Medvedchuk.
